Built in 1899 on land donated by the 4th Duke of Sutherland, the St. George's Institute was a place for all the people of St. George's to self improve, with a reading room, library, and snooker room. The fine brickwork incorporates the SGI logo in intertwined terracotta.

The building is now in private hands, and has been restored into flats.
