Market Street, Looking East

This is a view looking up Market Street (Watling Street in Roman times), in the 1890's,1935, 1940's, 1960's, 1966 and in 1999. The area in the fork of the road was called The Green, and here was the town's water supply in the form of Balaclava Pump Well. The top two pictures supplied by Mr P Jones of Snedshill.

1890's

1935

1940's 1960's, the Christmas Tree in its place

As you can see, not much has changed.
