Using the WYSIWYG Editor

The built-in WYSYWYG Editor provides added formatting capabilities to your layout. This guide provides a basic overview of each function, and how it works.

Save, Preview, Styles, Find, and Spell Check

  1. Save - Saves the current layout in the main view box. Although functional, you are better to use the "Save Changes" button located at the top and bottom of each application.
  2. Preview - Preview the contents in a separate window. Use the "Preview" button at the top of the form for a more accurate view.
  3. Full Screen - Expands your workspace to fit the entire browser window. Click again to get back to the Item Description view.
  4. Find - Use this button to find a keyword or phrase contained in the main view box.
  5. Spell Check - Not included.
  6. Styles and Formatting - Use this button to format text, paragraph, and lists, as well as apply custom and css styles.

Advanced Text Formatting

  1. Paragraph - Apply pre-formatted styles such as Paragraph and Header (1,2,3, etc.).
  2. Font Name - Change text font.
  3. Font Size - Change font size.

Cutting and Pasting

  1. Cut - Cut selected text.
  2. Copy - Copy selected text.
  3. Paste - Paste selected text.
  4. Paste from Word - Paste text selected from a Word document. This feature eliminates all formatting tags created by Word that may interfere with your HTML formats.

Undo/Redo

  1. Undo - Undo the last action, including typing, inserting table, inserting picture, and formatting.
  2. Redo - Redo last action, or last undone action.

Basic Text Formatting

  1. Bold - Set selected text as bold or strong.
  2. Italics - Italicize selected text.
  3. Underline - Underline selected text.
  4. Alignment - Adjust alignment of selected text: left, center, right, justify.

Paragraph Formatting

  1. Numbering - Apply a numbered list format.
  2. Bullets - Apply a bulleted list format.
  3. Indent - Indent selected text one tab stop.
  4. Outdent - Outdent selected text one tab stop.

Color Formatting

  1. Foreground Color - Apply color to selected text.
  2. Background Color - Apply background color to main background, table, or cell.

Links and Special Insertions

  1. Bookmark - Insert bookmark or anchor.
  2. Hyperlink - Link selected text or object.
  3. Tags - Insert pre-defined custom tags (i.e. Item Description).
  4. Image - Insert image, graphic, or picure.
  5. Flash - Insert Flash document.
  6. Media - Insert Media file other than Flash (i.e. .mpeg, .wmv).

Tables

  1. Table - Insert table.
  2. Border & Shading - Adjust table borders and color.
  3. Show/Hide Guidelines - View or hide a dotted outline of the table and cells.
  4. Absolute - Enable all other objects and text to show over top selected table.

Other Features

  1. Special Characters - Insert special characters from a list including ® , ™, ©, etc.
  2. Line - Insert a horizontal divider line.
  3. Form Editor - Format and insert a form and fields including text boxes, radio buttons, etc.
